Current Favorites 2016

Wow, it's been a whole year since my last blog post... I think it's about time I start this thing up again. I have learned so much in the past year it's pretty crazy and so much has changed! Here are some things I am loving right now.

Current Favorites

1. Essential Oils!
There is this store near my apartment and oddly enough another one by my work, called Penn Herb. They sell all kinds of natural supplements, herbs (whoa), spices, everything natural you can imagine. I picked up some essential oils to try in my little tea light diffuser and I'm hooked. I purchased Lavender, Lemon, & Lemongrass about a month ago and used them all up. So I went back to purchase large sizes of Lavender and Lemon. I love using the lemon oil on things in the kitchen that are stinky, trash, dishes, etc. And I like to burn the lavender in the evening to set a relaxing mood. I will definitely be getting more into these and trying more scents...

2. My American Eagle Sateen Jeggings
I am OBSESSED with these. I was in need of some black jeans and I went into American Eagle, and as usual, they did not disappoint. I found these black jeggings that are so stretchy, but in a good way! They are seriously comfortable and a really crisp dark black, I've gotten so many compliments on them it's crazy haha especially for black jeans! I think that says everything.

3. Mrs. Meyers Cleaning Products
Can you tell I went a little "natural" crazy? I was back at Penn Herb and needed some cleaning products. I've been looking into making my own with the essential oils above, but I figured I'd start by giving these ones a go. I picked up the lavender scent of the shower and tile cleaner, and then the every day cleaning spray. I pretty much use this on everything - I don't have any wood that I'm worried about ruining, so be careful of that. But it does the job and smells amazing, plus it's all natural ingredients! I'm most excited to finish them up, because then you just by the concentrated solution and dilute it with water and fill them up in the original spray bottle, so cool!

4. Estée Lalonde! And her book Bloom.
Can a person be a favorite? I don't know, but I have a favorite person I want to talk about and that is one of my favorite Youtubers, Estée Lalonde! I believe I started watching her channel this year and I feel like we're meant to be best friends. I love her style, her videos, and now her book, Bloom! I guess Bloom is a favorite too then. But if you enjoy the small things in life I think you will enjoy Estée. She is just so chill and cool and I love everything she does haha, she can do no wrong in my eyes. Plus her dog Reggie is so freaking cute! Big fan.

5. New Girl
I am re-watching and also catching up on New Girl on Netflix. I just love the show, it's a good laugh at the end of the day. I had watched it religiously when it first came out and then kind of forgot about it, but I'm so glad I've gotten back into it. I also just love Zooey Deschanel.

6. Jake Bugg
I got to FINALLY see one of my favorite musicians in September, Jake Bugg! I have been a fan for a while now and it seemed every time he was touring I missed it. I also had tickets a couple years ago and then the show was cancelled! What! But I finally got to go to his show here in Philly and I was in love the entire time. I wish he had played more songs from his first album, but I get it, you gotta pump up the new album songs. Love him.

That's all I have for now, hope you are enjoying your fall and I'd love to know your favorites below!

Me Time

I might actually take too much "me" time. But spending time on yourself is something I realize really makes a difference in your attitude on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. I've started doing yoga in my spare time. There are great videos on youtube for yoga, for free! It might seem kind of stereotypical, but it feels great and is a nice way for me to be active and relax. It is hard for me to slow down sometimes, especially during college. It's a nice break and to let your mind relax as well.

Making a plan of what I need to do in the morning is also soothing for me. On Monday and Wednesday I start class at 3pm, so I have a huge chunk of day in the morning. I could easily sleep in until noon, but I feel so much more productive and really do get more done when I wake up at a decent time. I listen to some music and go through my tumblr and begin to prioritize what I'm going to do during the day. I also munch on a healthy breakfast (apples and peanut butter today!), because I feel like the way you start your day can set the tone. Then I get my yoga on, have some water, and get moving with homework or whatever is on the list.

How do you spend your "me time"?

Nice customers!

I really appreciate nice customers! I don't know what motivates people to treat other people like shit, but it boggles my mind, so I really love when there are genuine and appreciative people that come into the store. As an associate we are here to help, not hear you complain about why something isn't there or the color you want. I had so many customers thank me for my help and say how nice and helpful I was! It sounds silly but those comments made my day :)

To all of the nice customers out there, thank you!

That is all <3

Work = Inspiration ....?

Hellooooooo! So I thought I would just share some things I have been up to lately that have really started to inspire me!

1. Social Media
I recently started a social media internship with a local spa. They're actually a mobile spa and take appointments for people, businesses, events, etc. They used to have a physical location but transitioned into mobile, so they needed some help with revamping their social media. So I have really been enjoying Instagramming for them, in addition to Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn. They also wanted me to blog for them and work on their newsletter/e-mail blasts.
I'm really excited about the blogging opportunity, because I really do enjoy it! It is kind of relaxing to just write, even though I might not be the best! My boss is extremely nice and helpful, so I'm glad I have this opportunity!

2. Store Merchandising
I'm also now working at West Elm. Even though it seems like just working retail, I feel like I can be a little creative there. Either helping customers with home accessorizing or organizing displays, it lets me have a bit of a creative outlet. I would really love to work on the Visual team. I got to help out with the Pre-Fall Floor-set and it was a really cool experience for me. Our store is the concept store, so corporate and merchandisers come in and they create the new layout and design for each season! I even got to do a small display :) It really opened my eyes to Visual Merchandising and I think it is something I would consider pursuing in the future.

3. Blogging/Vlogging!
I am back into blogging, and just started vlogging! I made my first YouTube video, just a favorites video because I thought it would be fun and I love to watch them! It is another way I can be creative :)

I'm so happy that I am doing things that I enjoy! I still have no idea what I want to do or be or whatever, but I think these are a nice start.

Things I Want

Things I Want

These are things I am in the market for. I want to start the process of revamping my wardrobe because I am just really sick of my closet. I feel like I have nothing to wear, so I'm slowly getting rid of things I don't wear and have my eye out for some new quality pieces. I am really trying to embrace the quality over quantity concept but it's so difficult when you can buy $8 jeans at Forever21! BUT I am trying, and that's what counts, right?

Black Jeans! With the rips in the knees please. I keep seeing this and I just want them and will wear the heck out of them. For the jeans matter I would love some distressed white and light wash boyfriend jeans. I'll even settle for skinny.. I want something that is relaxed and casual but you can throw a cute necklace and tee and make it more put together!

I have these great double strap sandals in tan that I got in Italy, I live in them. I want to get either a black or white pair. I think it makes it easier to dress up, but we'll see. I just love how comfortable and effortless they are.

I want a cute little cami style dress. I love the super thin spaghetti strap trend right now. I think it's so elegant and pretty. I like this light pink one, but would pretty much settle for any color.

GOLD JEWELRY. Ok. I am dying for new jewelry. I rarely wear jewelry, but I love the layered look and I seriously have nothing like this. I want some cute delicate gold necklaces and a variety of rings and midi rings to go along.

Next up, denim shorts. This has been a matter of trying them on at every store I go to. I just want something medium to light wash, distressed or not, and a little high waisted.

A cool leather jacket. I mean come on, how freaking cool is it?! I think it would be so nice to have to throw over a t-shirt to pull together a casual look or turn it into a night look. I need it.

Finally a cute hat! I want a wide brim, and this tan/camel color. I'm not thinking I want a more structured brim rather than the floppy hat, so I'll keep my eye out.

That is all. Let me know if you have any suggestions to find these items or something similar! What are you in the market for?

A Day in New York

Last week I had a few days off and wanted to do something fun. I've lived in Philly for almost 3 years now and haven't been to New York. I went with my family when I was about 13, but we mostly did tourist stuff and visited museums.

My friend Maile had a 3-month internship in New York so I figured she would have some good recommendations and ideas on what to see, since she lived there. Maile, my friend Chris, and I took a Megabus into the city and began our day.

We started by grabbing a delicious breakfast sandwich at the Chelsea Market and made our way to a delicious coffee house. We grabbed our iced coffees from Blue Bottle and walked the High Line. The High Line was probably one of my favorite places on the trip. I love the combination of urban and earthy, it's a really cool thing.

Then we took the subway (!!) to SoHo, where we did some window shopping and crying over beautiful shoes and purses in Madewell. From there we walked to Little Italy to grab some pizza, cannolis, and gelato. It was interesting that the China Town and Little Italy are right next to each other, but I really like the vibe of SoHo and Little Italy.

After we filled up, we hopped in a cab towards Central Park. I had seen a Jamba Juice and I couldn't resist. So I bought a strawberry surf-rider, my fav, and we hung around in the park.

Before we knew it was getting dark and looking like it was going to rain. We made our way back to the bus but it started to rain, so we grabbed a cab and made it back to the bus stop.

New York is HUGE and there is so much to explore. I'm looking forward to visiting soon :)
